Myanmar will actively consider BIDV's approval to open a branch soon

At the meeting, Governor Nguyen Van Binh emphasized that as a trusted and steadfast partner of Myanmar for many years, Vietnam wishes to continue supporting and cooperating with Myanmar for the benefit of both sides.

The two Governors also evaluated the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation that the two Central Banks signed recently and agreed to more effectively and strongly deploy the agreed cooperation activities to bring the relationship between the two sides more and more into reality.

It is expected that the two Central Banks will strengthen cooperation through periodically organizing high-level visits and delegations sharing professional experiences in related fields. The two Governors also agreed to continue creating favorable conditions for commercial banks of the two countries that wish to have a presence in the other country, and consider this an important factor to help promote trade and investment relations between the two sides.

Recognizing the efforts of Vietnamese commercial banks such as BIDV in penetrating the Myanmar market and contributing to Myanmar's development process, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar said he would actively consider BIDV's license to open a branch in Myanmar soon.

The year 2015 marked the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Myanmar with many commemorative activities taking place on both sides. Currently, Vietnam is currently ranked in the group of 10 countries with the largest FDI investments in Myanmar.
