(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of April 25, Comrade Nguyen Van Tung, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee chaired a working session with the World Bank's Working Group in Vietnam and representatives of leaders of the Department of International Relations - Government Office, Department of Foreign Economic Relations - Ministry of Planning and Investment, Department of Debt Management and Foreign Finance - Ministry of Finance on the Hai City Development Project. Hai Phong city development project to adapt to climate change with preparation time from 2021-2023. Implementation locations are in districts: Hong Bang, Hai An and districts: Thuy Nguyen, An Duong. Strive to propose a project approved by the Prime Minister in May 2022 and sign a loan agreement before the end of 2023. The project is proposed to be provided by the World Bank with loan capital. The overall goal of the Project is to develop urban and regional connectivity, contributing to sustainable urban development; improve water quality, environmental sanitation and urban development to accelerate the development of Hong Bang and An Duong districts; Improve the city's management capacity and ability to combat climate change.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Chairman of the City People's Committee, thanked the World Bank Working Group in Vietnam and representatives of the Government Office and related ministries for working in the city. He emphasized that in recent years, Hai Phong city's socio-economic development has been strong. However, investment pressure on transport infrastructure and connecting regions and localities is an important issue for the city. The city has spent resources investing in transportation infrastructure and improving the environment in some areas, but based on the city's efforts, it cannot meet development requirements. Therefore, the city directed departments and branches to connect with the World Bank to research and support loan capital to implement the project. CityWe hope that for this project, the World Bank in Vietnam will speed up the order and procedures to promote project implementation; The city is ready to coordinate with ministries and central branches to complete the necessary procedures to submit to the Government for early approval.
